Which is the best FREE spyware removal tool out there?

I have got an 'intelligent explorer adware / spyware infection on my Vista PC. I use Avast anti - virus free edition but it's not able to see the infection. Spyware doctor has found the infection but wants me to pay Â£29. 99 to remove it. Any ideas? Thanks

just get AVG Free anti virus, and spybot search and destroy adware and spyware removal, that's all you will need
As others have said, try mallwarebytes. I hate it when you get a problem, which your anti - virus software detects, but then they want to charge you to remove it. It is bad enough when the software is free, but the case I had, was actually detected but not removed by Norton Anti Virus. When I called Norton, they wanted me to pay them $100 to remove it. The guy said that Norton removes most, but not all viruses, and for the rest, you have to pay. I got rid of it by going into majorgeeks.com and found out how to remove it myself for free.
